Mouzinho da Silveira (1780-1849) was a statesman, jurist and portuguese politician, as well as one of the most important personalities of the Liberal Revolution of 1820.

He was responsible for legislation and administrative reforms that shaped portuguese institutions, taxation and justice.

The construction of the street where Villa Mouzinho is located honors the liberal politician Mouzinho da Silveira and resulted from the need to connect the area of Ribeira to the the city centre. The street was built over the Villa River that divided the city.

The name of the street in which these touristic apartments are located as well as the river beneath it also inspired the owners when choosing its name.
